Worcester, MA – Saint Vincent Hospital announces today it has been named #1 in Massachusetts for Cardiology, and for the second year in a row, named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention, according to new research released by Healthgrades, a leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients. These achievements reflect Saint Vincent Hospital’s outstanding clinical outcomes for Cardiology and Coronary Intervention and puts Saint Vincent Hospital the top hospital in Mass. for cardiology services and in the top 5% of hospitals nationwide for Coronary Intervention. Saint Vincent was one of only two hospitals in Massachusetts to receive the Coronary Intervention recognition.

“We are honored to be recognized by Healthgrades on these two cardiology awards and will continue to combine innovative cardiac technology and procedures with the compassionate care that is a trademark of Saint Vincent Hospital’s values,” says Carolyn Jackson, Chief Executive Officer of Saint Vincent Hospital and the Massachusetts market. “Our cardiac team consistently raises the bar in terms of the superb care they are committed to providing our patients. These recognitions are a testament to the incredible work that our caregivers do every day to ensure safe, high-quality care and an outstanding experience for our patients we are privileged to serve.”

#1 in Cardiology in Massachusetts

Healthgrades evaluates hospitals solely on what matters most–patient outcomes–to determine the top-performing hospitals for specialty care in each of the 32 states assessed. Healthgrades’ 2024 analysis revealed that patients who seek care at a hospital with rankings in their condition or procedure have a better chance of a good outcome than if they are treated at a facility that is not #1 in Mass. This widening performance gap highlights the importance of selecting a top-rated program.

America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention

Healthgrades evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 31 of the most common conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 hospitals across the country to identify the top-performing hospitals for specialty care. This year’s analysis revealed significant variation in patient outcomes between America’s 100 Hospitals for Coronary Intervention and hospitals that did not receive this distinction. From 2020-2022, patients treated at hospitals receiving the America's 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention Award have, on average, a 65.6% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.* Additionally, patients treated at hospitals which did not receive the America's 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention Award are, on average, three times more likely to experience one or more complications in the hospital than if they were treated at hospitals that did receive the award.*
